Look Before You Eat—a Surprising Look at
Food Terrorism
(Orlando, FL) – The world’s food supply is under
attack by an unlikely source—modern science— according to a presentation
given during the Unified Osteopathic Convention in Orlando, Fla. The convention
is the premier health care education event for osteopathic physicians (D.O.s).
According to Maj. Arden Andersen, D.O., the detrimental health effects caused
by genetically modified organisms (GMO) is a growing problem that needs to be
addressed immediately. “GMO was first thought to be a solution to the
world’s food supply problems,” said Dr. Andersen. “But in
reality, GMO has caused long term economic problems and serious health threats.”
Dr. Andersen, author of several books on the topics of medicine and agriculture
including Science in Agriculture and Anatomy of Life & Energy
in Agriculture, a world renowned lecturer on the topic of sustainable agriculture
and an osteopathic family physician, pointed out numerous studies on the significant
decline in mineral levels of farm-grown foods. “Because of GMO we’re
not getting the same kind of nutrition from our foods that our ancestors did,”
said Dr. Andersen. “Sure, people are living longer, but those people were
not raised on the types of food we have available today.”
The American Osteopathic Association proudly represents its professional family
of more than 56,000 osteopathic physicians (D.O.s), promotes public health,
encourages scientific research, serves as the primary certifying body for D.O.s,
and is the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical colleges and health
care facilities. More information on D.O.s/osteopathic medicine can be found
in the About Osteopathic
Medicine section of www.osteopathic.org.
