Carol L. Monson, D.O.

East Lansing Physician Re-elected to the
American Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees

(CHICAGO) — Carol L. Monson, D.O., of East Lansing, Mich., was re-elected to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Board of Trustees during its recent annual House of Delegates meeting in Chicago. She is an AOA board-certified family physician.

A fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, Dr. Monson is currently the acting chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing (MSUCOM). Dr. Monson received the Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service Award from MSUCOM.

Dr. Monson is a past president of the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA), the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the Michigan Council on Graduate Medical Education and the Ingham County Osteopathic Association. In 2005, she received the MOA Distinguished Service Award.

An AOA member since 1980, Dr. Monson has served on the AOA Board of Trustees since 2003. She is chair of the Department of Research, Quality and Public Health; chair of the Committee on Professional Publications; and vice chair of the Bureau of Ethics. In addition to her work with the AOA, Dr. Monson is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Practice, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

After graduating from MSUCOM, Dr. Monson completed a rotating internship at what is now the Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, Mich. In 1995, she fulfilled a faculty development fellowship at Michigan State University and in 1998 participated in the AOA’s health policy fellowship program at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens.
