American Osteopathic Association

Advancing the distinctive philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine

Postdoctoral Training

Osteopathic postdoctoral training programs are recognized throughout the United States in federal and state laws, rules and regulations. As an accrediting agency for osteopathic graduate medical education, the AOA reviews and approves all training standards, establishes general policy, and reviews and approves all postdoctoral training programs. The osteopathic medical profession offers postdoctoral training in all of the medical and surgical specialty areas. Successful completion of a residency program is required for specialty board certification.
