If you received federal/military internship training, you may apply for AOA approval. Federal/military internship training is reviewed and approved on an individual basis. It is the responsibility of the federal/military trainee to be sure that his/her program meets the rotational requirements of an AOA-approved rotating internship outlined below.
NOTE: All rotations will be compared to an AOA-approved rotating internship and must contain the following core criteria:
Download the Internship Requirements
If you are deficient in one of these core criteria, you must explain how you will make up the requirement. No training will be approved without completion of all core criteria.
It is the understanding of the AOA that not all military programs will provide an opportunity for you to complete the AOA’s required rotations. In this event, we request that you use your elective time to complete as many rotational requirements as possible. If you have any doubt about the program you have selected being in compliance with AOA requirements, please call the AOA at (800) 621-1773, ext. 8276, for further clarification.
The Program and Trainee Review Council (PTRC) meets in April, July and November. Petitioners will receive written notification of the PTRC’s action within 10 days after the meeting.
