Oct. 15, 2013:
Osteopathic physicians and their patients deserve a Medicare future they can count on. That’s why the osteopathic medical profession is urging our nation’s policymakers to invest in high quality health care for today’s seniors and generations to come.
Together, we can help cure Medicare. Your Voice, and Every Patient Counts.
Medicare physician payment cuts are once again looming, strengthening the need to permanently eliminate the sustainable growth rate (SGR).
Physicians face a 25% payment cut come Jan. 1, 2014. Tell Congress it is absolutely vital to act before the payment cut takes effect at the end of the year. It’s not just a percentage. It’s a burden, one that will cause physicians to reconsider whether they can continue to see or take on new Medicare patients.
It’s also a burden for patients, who will face increasing problems getting access to the medical care they need. Seniors will either face longer wait times to see their physician or will find it extremely difficult to even find one who accepts Medicare.
DOs and their patients must join efforts and engage on this issue to apply pressure to Congress to fix this problem. Collectively, we can deliver the important message that access to Medicare physician services is of utmost importance — that Every Patient Counts. Visit www.EveryPatientCounts.org to learn how you can get involved to make sure this issue remains front and center on the minds of Congressional leaders every single day.
The time for comprehensive physician payment reform is now! We need every member of the osteopathic family — we need you — to join this important advocacy effort. Reach out to your legislators and tell them that Every Patient Counts.
