U.S. News & World Report magazine has released its “2012 Best Graduate Schools” listings, including its rankings of the best medical schools for primary care and for research.
Two osteopathic medical schools, the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) and the University of North Texas Health Science Center—Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM), ranked in the top 50 for best schools for primary care.
In addition, osteopathic medical schools make up the top five schools with the highest percentage of graduates entering primary care. Of the top 10 on the list, seven were osteopathic medical schools. In order of ranking, they are:
MSUCOM
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
UNTHSC/TCOM
Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine
University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine
Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine-California
MSUCOM is also the highest ranking osteopathic medical school for research, ranking 87th on the best schools for research list.
