The AOA Department of Affiliate Affairs has a variety of resources to support the development of divisional and specialty affiliates:

Consulting

The department has individuals able to provide a variety of services including:

  • Strategic planning

  • Board and leadership development

  • Board orientation for those new to nonprofit service

  • Succession planning

  • Communications audits

Continuing medical education

The department provides tools and templates to support continuing medical education programs offered by affiliated organizations.

Regional Osteopathic Medical Education (ROME) programs are collaborations between affiliated organizations and the AOA. The program is designed to encourage multiple states to provide high quality continuing medical education by providing staff support in program development, design, marketing, logistics and onsite program support.

Operations and association management

Executive director orientation: The department provides new executive directors with the opportunity to visit the AOA, meet with staff and receive an overview of AOA services and resources.

AOA assistance

House of Delegates travel financial support: The AOA provides financial support for emerging affiliates to attend the AOA House of Delegates.

Client and member services

Data sharing program: The AOA will share relevant AOA data with divisional and specialty affiliates upon request. Recipients must sign a data sharing agreement.
