Jimmy DeMeo, DO, of East Rockaway, New York, is currently training in an emergency medicine residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Kansas City. He is training alongside his wife, Tiffany Barkley, DO, who is a current child neurology resident at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dr. DeMeo received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his osteopathic medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Pennsylvania.

Previously he has served on the AOA on the Council of Student Affairs, as the chair of the AOA Mentor of the Year Subcommittee, and as the chair of the medical student section of the AOA Osteopathic Profession Mentor Task Force. Aside from his involvement with the AOA, Dr. DeMeo is a past president of the national Student Osteopathic Medical Association, as well as past president of his medical school class. In additional to his current position on the AOA Board, he currently sits as the co-chair of the Bureau of Emerging Leaders, and as a member of the AOA Strategic Planning Committee as well as the Bureau of OMED.

In 2014, Dr. DeMeo was named the LECOM Student DO of the Year and added to the AOA Guardian of the Profession Honor Roll. As a student, he was nominated to the osteopathic national honor society, Sigma Sigma Phi as well as national political action honor society, Omega Beta Iota. 

Dr. DeMeo’s interests involve mentoring, professional development, and political advocacy.  Throughout his term on the AOA Board he hopes to engage current residents and foster their growth and involvement within the AOA.
