Bridget E. McIlwee, OMS IV
An osteopathic medical student from Chicago, McIlwee currently serves as the student representative on the AOA Board of Trustees. In this role, she will also serve as chair of the Council of Student Affairs.
McIlwee received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Dayton in Ohio. She completed part of her undergraduate education at l’Institut Catholique de Paris in France and Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. McIlwee plans to earn her osteopathic medical degree from Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/CCOM) in Downers Grove, Ill. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in dermatology.
As a member of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), McIlwee has served as national director of public relations and as president of the Chicago chapter. As AOA Board of Trustees student representative, she will maintain a position on the SOMA national board. She also is a member of the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society, the Osteopathic Political Action Committee and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology.
In the area of research, McIlwee spent two years at the University of Chicago researching the pharmacogenomics of anti-cancer agents. She has returned to the University of Chicago where she is researching immunology and immunotherapy of melanoma.
Additionally, McIlwee served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physiology at MWU/CCOM.
