Susan C. Sevensma, DO

An AOA board-certified family physician, Dr. Sevensma serves as the medical director of Metro Health Hospital's residency/community clinic. This clinic provides care to the underserved in the Grand Rapids, Michigan, area. She is also an assistant clinical professor for the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) in East Lansing and regional dean for the A.T. Still University- Kirksville (Missouri) College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Prior to joining the AOA’s Board of Trustees in 2009, Dr. Sevensma served as the Michigan Osteopathic Association’s president in 2007-2008. She also is past president of the Kent County Osteopathic Association and past president of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators.
Dr. Sevensma received the Patenge Medal of Public Service from Michigan State University; was named Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year; was recognized with the AOA’s Mentor Hall of Fame Award; and received the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Breath of Life Award.
Dr. Sevensma earned her osteopathic medical degree from MSUCOM and completed her postdoctoral medical training at what is now the Metro-Health Hospital in Grand Rapids.
