Richard R. Thacker, DO
Richard R. Thacker, DO, is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care. He currently practices at Capital Regional Medical Group in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Thacker received his osteopathic medicine degree from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his postdoctoral medical training at Delaware Valley Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, where he served as chief medical resident and received recognition as resident of the year.
A fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, Dr. Thacker currently serves as a medical director for several skilled nursing facilities in the Tallahassee area. He is also an associate medical director for Big Bend Hospice. He is a past chairman of the board of trustees for Capital Regional Medical Center after first serving as chairman of the Department of Medicine and chief of staff. He is currently the Tallahassee core site clinical director for the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Most recently Dr. Thacker was honored to receive the HCA Frist Humanitarian award for 2015.
At the state level, Dr. Thacker has served in multiple capacities in the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) since 1988, including President 2005-2006. In 2007, he was honored as FOMA’s “Physician of the Year.”
On a national level, Dr. Thacker is a member of the AOA Board of Trustees, has chaired several committees and is currently the secretary for the Osteopathic Political Action Committee.
Dr. Thacker resides in Tallahassee with his wife, Sherry, and children, Blake and Allison.
