Joseph M. Yasso, Jr., DO

A member of the AOA board since 2007, Dr. Yasso is an AOA board-certified family physician and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Aside from being an AOA Trustee, Dr. Yasso was the 2011-2012 chair of the Committee on Professional Publications and the Department of Affiliate Relations. He also is a past president of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS). Additionally, he has been a member of both the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the Missouri Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians since 1980.
MAOPS has bestowed many awards to Dr. Yasso, including the MAOPS President Award, the MAOPS Distinguished Service Award and the MAOPS Medallion Award. He has also been awarded with the Army Commendation Medal for his years of military service.
Dr. Yasso earned his osteopathic medical degree from what is now the Kansas City (Missouri) University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1977. He then went on to complete his postdoctoral training at the former Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City, and enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served as a flight surgeon based in Fort Hood, Texas.
