According to Dr. Nichols, the AOA has established policies covering nearly 50 of the provisions outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. "We all agree that we need universal access to care," she says, adding that the legislation's emphasis on primary care translates to added benefits for osteopathic physicians.
