In July 2006, AOA past president John A. Strosnider, DO, launched the Greatness Campaign with the primary objective of moving the AOA from "good to great." To accomplish this goal, the AOA Board of Trustees and House of Delegates in July 2006 adopted the AOA strategic Plan 2008-2010, which drives our work through six strategic pathways: Governance, Research, Education, Advocacy, Research, and Family. To become a great association - a great home - a great family - is the AOA's ultimate goal.
To refine the Greatness Campaign's focus and establish meaningful, achievable goals, the 2008 House of Delegates approved the following three areas as its primary objectives:
Public Education Advocacy
Osteopathic Relevant Research
Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education
Although each of the Greatness Campaign's components is equally important and plays an integral role in moving the AOA towards greatness, the foundation of the campaign - and the way we will achieve our three top priorities - is through the Greatness Fund. The Greatness Fund helps the osteopathic medical profession accomplish those big goals. Since its creation in 2006, the Greatness Fund has raised a total of $1 million.
