Page Content:
The AOA supports the osteopathic profession by monitoring and advocating on state-level legislation, regulations and licensure issues. Key areas of focus include scope of practice, pain management, medical liability reform and osteopathic licensure and equivalency.

Activity at the state level is tracked through a combination of an electronic 50-state legislative tracking system, news from publications and other professional organizations, and communication with AOA members and affiliate organizations. As part of our commitment to protecting patient safety through responsible scopes of practice, the AOA is a Steering Committee member of the Scope of Practice Partnership. Learn more about the Scope of Practice Partnership, or for affiliate organizations or AOA members: access additional state government resources on priority issues.
