2017 transition to Medicare’s new Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS)

Under the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA), implementation of MIPS will streamline Medicare’s reporting programs beginning in 2017 by combining PQRS, the Physician Value-based Payment Modifier (VM) and the Meaningful Use (MU) EHR Incentive programs. Reporting under MIPS during the 2017 performance year will impact Medicare Part B payments in 2019 for eligible clinicians.

For more information on MIPS and MACRA, please visit the AOA’s resource page.
