2011 AOA Research Conference

​The 2011 Annual AOA Research Conference was held Oct. 30 - Nov. 1, 2011, in Orlando, Fla. The conference theme was "The Science Supporting the Impact of OMT on the Human Condition: The Structure-Function Relationship and Mechanisms of Action for Self-Regulatory and Healing Processes."

The learning objectives of this conference included:
  1. Describing the data supportive of the concept of somatovisceral and viscerosomatic interactions, which is one of the greatest contributions of the osteopathic medical profession to health care.
  2. Understanding and applying the data on immune system benefits in clinical practice.
  3. Appreciating the benefits of OMT for pneumonia, balance dysfunction, and neurological disorders in clinical practice.
