As physicians, we know the importance of clinical trials. They provide invaluable information as to the effectiveness of new medications and experimental treatments. One disease that is in desperate need of the research gained from clinical trials is Alzheimer’s.
In 2010, the AOA partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to make it easier for osteopathic physicians to find information about Alzheimer’s disease and match their patients to clinical trials. To this end, we created the Alzheimer’s Education Center on Osteopathic.org.
The Education Center contains a link to Alzheimer’s Associations TrialMatch™, which is a comprehensive, nationwide listing of actively recruiting Alzheimer’s clinical trials; health articles, posters and brochures to help you educate your communities and patients; and research articles and white papers about the best treatment options available today.
Alzheimer’s disease is a serious health problem that is affecting more and more people every day. Whether it’s matching our patients to clinical trials or educating our communities on the 10 warning signs, we can all do our part to help fight this disease.
