Minnesota Welcomes President-elect Stowers

Speaking of visits with the osteopathic family, AOA President-elect Ray Stowers, DO, is in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” to attend the Minnesota Osteopathic Medical Society’s (MOMS) Annual Fall CME Conference.  Earlier today, Dr. Stowers met with the MOMS Board and extended greetings from the AOA and provided an update on AOA activities.  He encouraged the MOMS Board to join the AOA’s advocacy efforts to correct the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) by signing on to our petition at EveryPatientCounts.org.  Dr. Stowers also discussed the new requirements for osteopathic continuous certification (OCC) on the horizon and asked the MOMS Board to educate their members about the upcoming change.  He reported that the AOA’s new online store, which will include materials to promote OCC, will soon be unveiled.  According to 2010 statistics, MOMS has 100 DO members, 13 resident members, and 82 student members.
