First DO Students Train at DOCARE Clinic

On 1/30/12, the first osteopathic student volunteers (Desirae Nasrallah, OMS at ATSU, and Gene Iucci, OMS at PCOM) began their rotations at the permanent DOCARE Continuity-of-Care Clinic in San Andres, Itzapa, Guatemala!  The DOCARE Clinic opened in June 2011, kicking off a newly formed relationship between the existing clinic, DOCARE International, and the people of Guatemala.  In addition to clinical duties, students will be involved in community outreach coordinated by the onsite physician.  Requests are now being accepted for June, July and August, and students have already requested rotations for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013.  Currently, the clinic is only scheduling osteopathic medical students, but will soon be opening to residents and physicians.  Further information about requesting rotations can be obtained by emailing Verna Bronersky (vbronersky@osteopathic.org).
