NIH Launches “Time to Talk Tips” on CAM

The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has launched a new series of “Time to Talk Tips” that physicians can share with their patients to help them make better informed decisions about complementary health practices.  Nearly 40% of Americans use some form of complementary health practice, but many patients do not discuss CAM use with their physicians.  Tools and resources about complementary and alternative medicine for physicians and patients are available free of charge on the NIH website. John Licciardone, DO, head of the Osteopathic Research Center at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, was recently named to the NCCAM National Advisory Council.
