Bureau of State Government Affairs Meets

The AOA Bureau on State Government Affairs convened today at the NOAC under the leadership of AOA Trustee Joseph A. Giaimo, DO, Chair.  Staff distributed copies of the AOA’s State Legislative Activities Report 2011 and provided an update on state legislative activities in 2012.  Following this discussion was a presentation on the new online workspaces established for the AOA Bureaus, Councils and Committees on Osteopathic.org that are launching next week as well as a report from the Federation of State Medical Boards’ Chief Advocacy Officer with respect to FTC regulations and telemedicine.  Relatedly, the BSGA is currently revising the AOA’s policy on telemedicine and heard recommendations to this effect from the Workgroup that has been examining the policy and how it may change in response to the changing technological and regulatory environment.
