Over 250 DOCARE volunteers (many of them osteopathic physicians) have participated in missions to Guatemala and the Dominican since the beginning of 2012. These missions are in addition to the care provided by DOCARE’s first permanent clinic, which opened this past June in Itzapa, Guatemala. The clinic, which operates year-round, offers three students each month the opportunity to do an international rotation in an underserved region. Interested? Registration is now open for third- and fourth-year students who would like to do a rotation at the clinic this Fall. For additional information, contact Verna Bronersky at VBronersky@osteopathic.org. DOCARE has six more missions scheduled for 2012 in such areas as Rwanda and Sudan, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, and Malawi. If you’d like to learn more about these missions and the experiences of some of your colleagues, visit the DOCARE website.
