Speaking of great students, an article in the Columbus Dispatch profiled the amazing story of an osteopathic medical student’s journey from football to medicine. Simon Fraser, a first-year student at the Ohio University—Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, entered college as a pre-med but soon football took over as a defensive end for The Ohio State University’s Buckeyes and later in the NFL. When his twins were born prematurely, however, the time he spent working with physicians at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio revived his interest in medicine. After his children were released from the hospital, Student Dr. Fraser took classes at Columbus College before being accepted at OU-HCOM in Fall 2011. Read this amazing story online.
