JAOA Undergoing Major Changes

The March issue of the JAOA—The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association features an editorial by AOA Editor in Chief Gilbert E. D'Alonzo Jr., DO, about upcoming changes planned for the JAOA.  Over the past decade, the JAOA has been taking in suggestions, concerns and observations from authors, researchers and readers.  Here is some of what we learned:

  • The JAOA takes too long to publish manuscripts;
  • Our manuscript-submission and -tracking system is outdated; and
  • The JAOA is not prestigious enough to attract the best research in the profession.

Read the editorial to learn how we are realigning the JAOA to meet the standards set by our submitters and readers and help establish a more scholarly culture within the profession at-large.
