Advocacy Supports Rx Drug Control

The AOA and the Connecticut Osteopathic Medical Society (COMS) wrote a joint letter to the Connecticut State Legislature’s Joint Committee on Public Health on 3/21/12 to express our support for SB 436.  This bill requires every practitioner who distributes, administers or dispenses any controlled substance to register for access to the electronic prescription drug monitoring program, as well as obtain a certificate of registration issued by the Commissioner of Consumer Protection.  The AOA and the COMS applaud this effort to address an important public health issue while respecting physicians’ compelling ethical obligation to preserve access to effective pain management options for patients.  Read our letter CT-Letter.pdfCT-Letter.pdf.
