As reported on 3/23/12, AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, and I were in the “Bluegrass State” over the weekend to attend the American Academy of Osteopathy’s (AAO) Annual Convocation. As part of the event, the Osteopathic International Alliance (OIA) Board of Directors held its Midyear Meeting on 3/24-25/12 in Louisville. AOA Trustee Boyd R. Buser, DO, and Past Presidents Peter B. Ajluni, DO, and Karen J. Nichols, DO, represent the AOA on the OIA Board. OIA Board Chair Johannes Mayer welcomed the international osteopathic representatives in attendance to the US, after which I provided a report on the AOA and our recent outreach to Korean health officials. Major discussion focused on development of an OIA status report on osteopathy for the World Health Organization that includes both osteopathy and the U.S. model of osteopathic medicine.
