Joint Advocacy for Telemedicine Coverage

President Levine and Gregory R. Czarnecki, DO, President of the Connecticut Osteopathic Medical Society (COMS), wrote a joint letter on 3/22/12 to the Co-Chairs of the State House Health Services Committee in support of HB 5483, which would provide coverage for telemedicine services under the state Medicaid plan. Under this legislation, the Commissioners of Social Services and Public Health would work together to create regulations establishing rates for cost reimbursement for telemedicine services provided to Medicaid recipients.   The AOA supports legislation that provides reimbursement under Medicaid for appropriate services utilizing online technology, online consultations, and Internet-based health programs.
