AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, remains in Washington, DC, today attending the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine’s (AACOM) 2012 Annual Meeting. Given the meeting’s theme, “Building Healthier Behaviors: Medical Education for Prevention and Change,” it was significant that former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona, MD, was asked to give the keynote address during yesterday’s Opening Session. President Levine will address AACOM members during an AOA-hosted event this evening at the U.S. Botanic Garden to provide welcoming remarks and remind all DOs to “think osteopathically.” AOA Trustee Robert S. Juhasz, DO, as the AOA liaison to AACOM, also addressed the AACOM Board of Deans during its meeting this afternoon. In other federal news, President Levine wrote to the FDA today to nominate Joseph J. Stella DO, MBA for membership on the FDA Circulatory System Devices Panel. Dr. Stella is board certified in General and Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery and works at Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania.
