AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, MPH, is visiting the campus of the Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMU-COM) today to give a presentation to osteopathic medical students and meet with DMU-COM faculty. This morning he addressed first- and second-year students on the importance of “thinking osteopathically” in their education, training and practice, and reminded them to stay connected with the AOA throughout their careers. He then met with Kendall Reed, DO, DMU-COM Dean, and Angela L. Walker Franklin, PhD, President, before touring the campus. DMU-COM enrolls 220 first-year students, 52% of whom are members of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, and 898 students total. Over 60% of 2010 DMU-COM graduates went on to enroll in osteopathic GME programs.
