AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, several members of the AOA Board of Trustees, and many osteopathic volunteer leaders who serve on AOA bureaus, councils and committees convened for a “cluster” of meetings this weekend in Chicago:
- Chair Jeffrey S. Grove, DO, led the 4/14-15/12 meeting of the Council on Continuing Medical Education, at which were approved changes to the CME Guide for DOs and to the CCME Handbook. The Council also acted on a proposed rule regarding the Physicians Payments Sunshine Act and the CECity project related to CME on the internet.
- The Council on Research met on 4/14/12 under the leadership of AOA Trustee William J. Burke, DO, Chair. The Council reviewed a draft of the Outcome Measurements Task Force’s report on grants evaluation and heard updates on the 2012 Annual Research Conference, which will take place during OMED 2012 in San Diego. A strategic discussion regarding AOA-supported research also was held.
- As reported on 4/13/12, the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists’ Annual Meeting took place over the weekend. This was the last meeting as Chair for Ron E. Ayres, DO, who has led the BOS for six years. Three Executive Committee task forces to study re-structuring the BOS were created and all 18 certification boards are reported to be on schedule for the commencement of Osteopathic Continuous Certification on 1/1/13.
