AODME and AAOE Meet in Louisville and Texas

AODME (225x300).jpg
AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, and I, joined by AOA Trustees John Becher, DO, Ron Burns, DO, Boyd Buser, DO, and William Mayo, DO, attended the American Association of Osteopathic Examiners (AAOE) Annual Business Meeting, being held in Ft. Worth, Tex. Held in conjunction with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) Annual Meeting, the AAOE will review the FSMB’s plans for Maintenance of Licensure; programs to pilot Maintenance of Certification and Osteopathic Continuous Certification; and the ACGME crisis—all of which are of direct concern to the AAOE and its role as the unified authority in matters that affect osteopathic medical licensure and discipline.

Earlier in the day, AOA Trustees Susan Sevensma, Dr. Becher and I represented the AOA at the Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators’ (AODME) Annual Meeting, which is taking place 4/25-28/12 in Louisville, Ky.  The meeting is experiencing great attendance—the sessions this morning were packed with standing-room-only crowds to hear outstanding programs on integrating a patient safety and quality culture in GME, innovations in GME accreditation, and interprofessional education.  Last evening, Dr. Sevensma, the AOA Board liaison to the AODME, and I attended the AODME Board meeting to give an update on ACGME negotiations.  I am shown above with AODME President John Bulger, DO.
