AOA Trustee William S. Mayo, DO and I are in ROME today—that is, at the Regional Osteopathic Medical Education (ROME) Southeast Conference. Taking place 5/4-6/12 in Charleston, S.C., ROME Southeast is co-hosted by the AOA, the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association, the North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association, and the South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society. Dr. Mayo provided welcoming remarks to open the conference today, and this evening we’ll be meeting with the boards of the NCOMA, the SCOMS and GOMA, respectively. Dr. Mayo also will give an overview of Osteopathic Continuous Certification plans to the 175 attendees from 15 states, while I will address the ACGME crisis. AOA Trustee Barbara Walker, DO, is also in attendance. Meanwhile, AOA Past President Peter B. Ajluni, DO, represented the AOA on the platform at the graduation ceremonies for the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine on 5/3/12.
