Executive and Minority Health Committees Convene

AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, led a teleconference meeting of the Executive Committee of the AOA Board of Trustees last evening.  The Executive Committee heard reports from the Strategic Planning Committee as well as each of the ad hoc Task Forces created during the 2012 Board Retreat to examine five priority issues facing the profession.  The Board also approved financial support for several 2012 SOMA Research Fellowships and heard updates on administrative issues, including vacancies and budgetary concerns.  In related news, the AOA Council on Minority Health Issues also met via conference call yesterday under the leadership of David Garza, DO, Chair, to continue planning for its 2012 Minority Health Workshop during OMED and discuss collaborative efforts with affiliates to help end disparities in the health care workforce.
