Collaborative Letter from Association Executives

I have also has signed on to a joint letter authored by the American Society of Association’s Executives (ASAE) to Congress dated 5/7/12 in opposition to amendments that would severely limit federal employee attendance at meetings and conferences.  The letter received over 2,000 signatures from all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  The ASAE, an organization of 22,000 association executives representing 12,000 tax-exempt organizations, supports the intent of Congress to induce greater transparency and accountability in government spending.  However, while the amendments’ intent is to achieve this goal, the actual language would have a negative impact on government employees’ participation in non-governmental meetings.
