AOA Comments on Meaningful Use Rule

The AOA has submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the proposed rule for Stage 2 meaningful use. Our comments address several subject areas: avoiding high thresholds in new measures; modifying measures that require participation from another party other than the physician; surveying physicians to identify barriers and solutions for physician participation; and aligning requirements under this program with other existing programs. Comments received will be examined and considered as the agency prepares the final rule for Stage 2. It is anticipated that the final rule will be published sometime later this year.
