The AOA’s recent national online survey examining if patients are cutting back on health care spending due to the sluggish economy continues to generate media coverage. On 5/2/12, the lifestyle blog Candace Rose ran an interview with Matthew B. Ajluni, DO, an AOA board-certified osteopathic family physician in Chicago who is serving as a spokesperson on this issue. Dr. Ajluni discussed the results of the survey, explained the importance of preventive medicine, and offered tips on how patients can save money on health care. Similarly, a 5/9/12 American Medical News article quoted osteopathic family physician Rob Danoff, DO, another spokesperson on this issue, discussing the survey results and how he has seen the economy impact his patients’ decisions about health care. The AOA survey was also featured in a 4/24/12 news brief in the Washington Examiner.
