President Levine Meets World Health Leaders

AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, continued his attendance at the 65th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, today, meeting with World Health Organization (WHO) staff in the Department of Chronic Diseases Prevention and Management; the Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologics; and the Department of Health System and Services. President Levine discussed the strategy that several of our COMs employ in enrolling students from the school’s local community and encouraging them to stay in that community once training is complete to improve health in underserved areas. He also discussed the mutual interest of the Department of Health System and Services and the osteopathic medical profession in developing patient (or person) centered medical homes for health care delivery systems. The WHO has requested more information from the AOA on both topics as we continue to expand our global collaboration.
