Health Policy Notes
The 5/23/12 CQ HealthBeat reported that most Americans polled in a recent Kaiser Family Foundation survey support federal spending to improve health in developing countries: 66% said U.S. spending on global health is too little or about right, although 54% said spending on foreign aid was too high.

The Washington Post reported on 5/28/12 that 10% of American veterans currently lacks health insurance, according to a new Urban Institute study, about half the level among the general population. Uninsured veterans are more likely to be unemployed or have a lower-income job.

Consumer Reports has distributed a 12-page pamphlet with a plain-English summary for consumers of what’s included in the Affordable Care Act, benefits patients can currently get, and what they can expect in the future. Download copies for your patients at YourHealthSecurity.org.
