State and Specialty Events

The AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies (BOSS) met in Chicago on 7/15/12 under the leadership of Kenneth Heiles, DO, Chair. The BOSS provides specially affiliates with a forum to exchange information and a structured and consistent opportunity to participate in AOA policy development. Issues discussed among the specialty representatives included the AOA strategic plan, the ACGME’s proposed Common Program Requirements, progress implementing osteopathic continuous certification, the AOA professional inspector program, and scope of practice advocacy. The BOSS also reviewed resolutions of interest that will be debated by the House of Delegates later this week. In related news, the AOA Society of Osteopathic Specialty Executives also convened a brief meeting today at the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians’ offices in the AOA Headquarters building here in the Windy City.
