Bureau, Council and Committee Meetings

  • AOA Trustee Joseph A. Giaimo, DO, chaired a meeting of the AOA Bureau of State Government Affairs. Issues on the agenda for discussion included scenarios for regional GME financing; an update on osteopathic continuous certification and maintenance of licensure; and consumer-oriented and -operated health insurance plans
  • The AOA Bureau of State Affiliate Concerns convened under the leadership of AOA Trustee William Mayo, DO, Chair, to hear updates on the goals and priorities included in the AOA Strategic Plan. The BASC also reviewed responses from AOA state affiliates in identifying their most significant issues, which included support for CME programs, membership/member needs, and administrative support. 
  • The AT Still Foundation and Research Institute convened a brief meeting this morning, led by AOA Trustee Thomas Ely, DO, to consider requests for research funding and receive a report for the Osteopathic Family Relief Fund. 
  • AOA Past President Howard Neer, DO, led today’s meeting of the AOA Council on Building to review statistics on our Headquarters at 142 E. Ontario St. in Chicago.  Our building, which has been owned in full with no mortgage since 2003, is 89.4% occupied. ​
