PTRC Convenes During AOA Educational Cluster

The AOA Program and Trainee Review Council (PTRC) convened today as part of the AOA “cluster” of Bureau, Council and Committee meetings taking place this weekend at the O’Hare Hilton in Chicago.  There are 37 program approval resolutions on the agenda, submitted by 13 specialty affiliates and the Internship Evaluating Committee (IEC), as well as two trainee approval resolutions from the Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons.   Discussion items included revisions to procedures for approval of OGME-1 year training for DOs in the military, and review of approval of increases in training positions for dually accredited (AOA and ACGME) training programs.  The PTRC meets in General Session with an Accreditation Session for confidential program reviews.  John B. Bulger, DO, serves as PTRC Chair.  Both President Nichols and Dr. Mayo, who serves as Vice-Chair of the AOA Department of Educational Affairs, were on hand.
