Health Policy Notes

Kaiser Health News reported on 4/5/12 that consumers would have received rebates of nearly $2 billion—as much as $300 per member—if the Affordable Care Act’s cap on insurance profits and overhead had been in place in 2010.

The 4/4/12 New York Times reported that the number of prescriptions issued to patients in the U.S. declined by 1.1% compared with 2010, and visits to the doctor fell by 4.7%, according to a new report issued by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics.

The National Health Service Corps will host a free Webinar for full-time medical students pursuing a career in primary care who are interested in applying to the NHSC Scholarship Program on Wednesday, 4/11/12, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm ET.  Access the webinar online; dial in at 1-877-352-5213, passcode 6420941.
