Support for Fair Telemedicine Payment

The AOA also sent this letter to the Chair of the Vermont State Senate Committee on Health and Welfare on 4/2/12 in support of HB 37, a bill that would require all health insurance plans in Vermont to provide coverage for telemedicine services to the same extent that the services would be covered if they were provided in person. Under this legislation, treatment recommendations made through telemedicine would be held to the same standard of care as those in traditional physician-patient settings. This is a provision we strongly believe is paramount to the issue as quality must be maintained in any attempt to increase access to health care services.  We wrote to the South Carolina legislature on 3/26/12 in support of similar legislation.
