AOA Board of Trustees Convene Midyear Meeting

The AOA Board of Trustees convened its 2012 Midyear Meeting today in Miami, Fla.  AOA President Martin S. Levine, DO, President-elect Ray E. Stowers, DO, and I led deliberations on a robust agenda of transformative action items and policy discussions.  During this morning’s Executive Session, the Board heard reports on the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s report on the future of nursing, and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation’s proposed standards regarding OGME, among other issues.  Earlier this morning, the AOA President’s Advisory Council held a breakfast meeting to provide advice and counsel to President Levine and President-elect Stowers on controversial issues before the Board at the meeting, including the ACGME crisis and implementation of Osteopathic Continuous Certification.
