WOMA Convention and NBOME Liaison Group

AOA Trustee Norman E. Vinn, DO, participated in the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association’s (WOMA) 99th Annual NW Osteopathic Convention in Blaine this past weekend. Over 100 attendees and 24 exhibitors joined the Convention.  During the WOMA Luncheon on 6/23/12, Dr. Vinn provided an update on AOA activities of late, including advocacy to prevent implementation of proposed Common Program Requirements that would limit DOs’ ability to train in ACGME programs. AOA socioeconomic department staff also attended to give a presentation on practice management and payor advocacy. Meanwhile, AOA Past President William B. Anderson, DO, who serves on the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) Board, and I participated in the Liaison Committee meeting yesterday in Rosemont.  Wayne R. Carlsen, DO, NBOME Vice Chair, led discussions on NBOME organizational issues, the ACGME crisis noted above, GME financing, and implementation of Osteopathic Continuous Certification.
