AOA Trustee Mark A. Baker, DO, led a conference call with AOA and Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) leadership on 2/1/11. This ad-hoc group of leaders meets by teleconference to stay abreast of the latest news and activities related to the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s efforts to establish an MD school on the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine campus. The agenda for this week’s meeting included an update on letters sent to Texas legislators by DOs from across the country advocating the “Keep TCOM DO” mantra the AOA and TOMA support. TOMA is also hosting “DOs for Medical Excellence (DOME) Day” on 2/23/11. Like DO Day on Capitol Hill (see item #3 below), DOME Day is a free advocacy event that unites DOs and students with their elected officials to talk about priority issues. Learn more online.
