Every year, I’m thankful to be a DO, to be part of the osteopathic family and there’s no doubt we belong to a thriving profession. In fact, by the year 2020 an estimated 100,000 DOs will be in active practice. - The number of DOs in the United States (more than 78,000 when you include 2011 graduates);
- The number of osteopathic medical students during the 2010-2011 academic year (19,427) and
- The six states with the highest DO populations (Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida are three of the six).
