Some Holiday Fun

In the spirit of fun this holiday season, I have a couple entertaining tasks for you to complete:

First, stop by the AOA’s Facebook page to give your idea for next year’s Osteopathic Medical Conference & Exposition, OMED 2012, to take place in San Diego, Oct. 7-11. We looked to our members for our theme last year and ended up with a great one – The Future of Medicine is in Your Hands, submitted by Slade Suchecki, DO. The submitter of the winning theme will win free registration to OMED 2012. Theme submissions will be accepted on the AOA Facebook page wall through Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, after which members will be asked to vote for their favorite. Who knows…it could be yours!

Second, take a look at this great piece that recently appeared on the Huffington Post, entitled “Santa: 12 Lessons He Should Learn.” AOA Member Robert Danoff, DO, contributed to the story by providing expert health advice to Santa concerning his late hours, his weight, and that heavy sack of presents. What did Dr. Danoff recommend for Santa when discussing all the children who sit on Santa’s lap each year? "First of all we need to get him a hand sanitizer. And he needs to get a flu shot, no doubt about it."

I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season this year. I will be back with more blog posts and a special New Year’s message from me and Executive Director, John Crosby, early next month.

Happy Holidays!
Marty
