Great Leadership Opportunities Available for Osteopathic Medical Students

Last month, I blogged about how I became AOA president. I talked about how I got involved in the profession after earning my DO degree from KCOM in 1980. Today, I want to tell you about a great opportunity for you to get involved in the profession as an osteopathic medical student.

Not only do AOA bureaus, councils and committees (B/C/Cs) direct the work of the association, they also address the needs of the profession. There are more than 30 openings on these B/C/Cs reserved for students, and we are now accepting applications for these coveted spots. By serving in these roles, you’ll have a great opportunity to share the student perspective when it comes to a number of issues: promoting osteopathic medicine; encouraging research; and providing direction for legislative activities. More details about the application process and a list of FAQs can be found on the Students page at Osteopathic.org. One important date to keep in mind is Friday, Feb. 24. It’s the deadline for submitting applications.

To WesternU students: I’ll be on your campus next week. Post your questions here or on the AOA Facebook page, and I’ll see you in a few days.

Marty
